Our Story

ABOUT THE BRAND

The brand is a lifestyle connected to experiences of rural roots. Memories of farm life and working hard.

Farm Folk is inspired by country western living through the creativity of bohemian free spirited artists and makers. The name Farm Folk has significance as it is a term used being from the farm and a common word called within the family.

 ABOUT THE MAKER

Farm Folk is a legacy of farmers, ranchers and homesteaders. As a multi-generational farming family, the Weleschuk family have been working in agriculture for six generations, starting in 1897 with moving from Europe and settling a homestead East of Edmonton, Alberta.

A farmers daughter, Kristen, grew up on the family farm in the 70's, 80's and  90's. Working on the family farm, Kristen connected to the land as generations before her through nature, stillness, open spaces, free play, hard work, scarcity, and grit. Inspiration in her work is from many memories and experiences living on the family farm.

Today, the multi-generational farm continues to operate near Elk Island Park, Alberta with the support of all five siblings each living five minutes away. Kristen and her family reside in Airdrie, Alberta and also supports a farm living lifestyle back home.
